1945 001

The pages of the 1945 Plythean yearbook identify many of the individuals seen in the 1945 ‘Flicker Flash Backs.’

The impact and life-changing moments of school year 1944-1945 are evident with several students posing for their senior pictures in military uniform. Also, the yearbook staff writes of the school Superintendent, George A Smith (as in P-CCS Smith Elementary School), and the loss of PHS students during the Second World War.

The class of 1945 in May of 1945 looked forward to graduation, experienced V-E Day, May 8, 1945, and the formal surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945.

The ‘J-Hop’ (dance) took place on May 6, 1945, despite the typographical error in the yearbook which indicates 1955. It appears the original owner of this book also caught the mistake, making a small mark above the date.
