Till We Meet Again

George A Smith began his continuous service of twenty-seven years as superintendent of Plymouth Public Schools in September, 1918, succeeding Charles F Reebs. Not until the second semester was there another man on a faculty of eleven, so Mr. Smith added the duties of coach and teacher of physics and chemistry to those of superintendent of a school enrolling approximately 400 with a plant costing $140,000. The present enrollment is 2,276, in a plant appraised at $500,500 with a faculty of 78.

The gradually increasing losses of "his boys" as reported by the armed services have been a great sorrow to Mr. Smith, and have been felt as a deep personal loss. He has been "Pop" to over 2,100 graduates, and an uncounted number of pupils; he has been a friend and helper in their perplexities; he has rejoiced in their successes; and these 2,100 will still be going to him for advice even though he is not in school.

So the class of '45 does not say farewell; but instead, "So long, Pop; we'll be seeing you."
