[March 2010] Salem Marketing Students Find Lost Uncles with Advertising Campaign
Salem Marketing students presented an Advertising Campaign for Non-profit Organizations, first and second hours in the Salem Cafeteria on March 25, 2010.
As part of their marketing class, student teams designed an advertising campaign for a non-profit organization of their choice. The culmination of those efforts was on display in the cafeteria where students had to ‘sell’ their program. The student’s team goal was to raise the most inheritance money for their organization. That’s where the ‘Lost Uncles’ come in.
The first twenty P-CEP staff members who arrived during the morning activity received a $20,000.00 inheritance from their “Long Lost Uncle.” The ‘benefactors’ then walked the floor to look, listen and be convinced by the students to donate to ‘their’ non-profit organization. Marketing and presentation counted! Staff could then donate some or all of their inheritance money to the program.
At the closing of the activity the inheritance money received by each non-profit was tallied. The student team that raised the most money received a recognition ribbon and had the opportunity to send a “real” monetary donation to their non-profit raised by the Marketing and Advanced Marketing classes.
Coordinated by Cristina Guberinich, Marketing Instructor, Salem High School.
