School Board Names New Board Member

[June 10, 2007]
Last night the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education selected John T. Jackson to fill the open seat on the Board until the next school board election. The Board of Education interviewed three candidates from the community to fill the remainder of Mark Slavens’ term.
The vacancy was created when Slavens resigned at the May 8, 2007, Board meeting to accept an appointment from the governor as a Wayne County Circuit Court judge. The other candidates interviewed were Kurt Heise and John Nichols.
Per district policy, interested individuals submitted notice of their intent in writing to the Board secretary, Judy Mardigian. The Board asked a series of questions to the candidates in a public forum and then voted. Jackson was selected by the majority (5-1).
In addition, the Board selected the officers for the 2007-08 school year:
Judy Mardigian, President
Barry Simescu, Vice-President
Steven Sneideman, Secretary
Thomas Wysocki, Treasurer
