P-CCS Graduates Win Awards for Innovative Ideas
1000 Pitches is a competition held each fall term at the University of Michigan to generate innovative business and product ideas from U-M students. This year, three Canton High School graduates were awarded $1000 each for their entries in one of nine categories.
Catherine Huang, a 2011 graduate, entered a parking space locator application called ParkMe in the Mobile Apps category.
Michael Gleba, a 2009 grad, won in the Health category for his Lancet Devive Diabetic App.
Nicholas Turnbull, also a 2009 graduate, won the Consumer Products Category with Paul Schrems for Torsion, a smartphone case with retractable headphones to keep cords from getting tangled.
The competition, now in its third year, is hosted by MPowered Entrepreneurship, a student-run organization. More information about 1000 Pitches can be found at http://www.1000pitches.com/
